Mountain Man Rendezvous/Native American Village
Grand Opening

Meet a Mountain Man. Learn how to start a fire with flint and steel, throw a tomahawk, buy period goods from traders, and maybe hear a tall tale or two. And don’t miss the new Native American Village at Settlers’ Pond, created to recognize the native peoples and cultures that were here before the pioneer settlements.

23 & 25

Baby Animal Days

City kids will forever remember petting a lamb and holding a fluffy chick. We’ll have lots of baby animals at their fingertips, as well as pony rides and lots of other activities and take-home crafts. The Humane Society also will be here with its Adopt-a-Pet program. Of course, the trains will be running and the tradesmen will be demonstrating life in the 19th Century.

JUNE

Summer Youth Rodeo

Our first kid rodeo was such a hit last year that we’ve beefed it up and given it a separate day of its own. Events for kids and teens include mutton bustin’, calf riding, breakaway roping, goat chase, ox pull, mechanical bull, prizes, real Rodeo Queens, little-folks games (egg toss, udder toss, water-gun target shoot) and crafts. Whether they’re four or fourteen, they’ll talk about when they “cowboyed up” for a long, long time.

Brother Brigham’s Family Ball

In The Bowery at This Is The Place Heritage Park
7:00pm to 10:00pm

Brigham Young was raised in a Puritan home where fiddle music and dancing were considered sinful. But forty-five years later he sent a fiddler with each wagon train headed to Utah and encouraged the pioneers to dance! What happened?

Bring your family to Brother Brigham’s Family Ball at This Is The Place Heritage Park Saturday July 25 and see what changed Brigham’s mind!
Pioneer dancing, where the whole family participates, authentic pioneer entertainment, the Blue Sage String Band, and the world premiere of Brigham Young’s family recipe donuts! Pioneer dress is encouraged, partners are not required. A caller will teach each dance before it’s begun, and representatives from Brigham Young’s granddaughters will lead the grand march! Brother Brigham himself will be your host, so I strongly suggest you enjoy yourself!

$6.00 - Adult (age 12 & over), $4.00 - Child, $10.00 - Couple
$25.00 - Family (2 Adults & 6 Children)
Period dress encouraged

Daily Park admission on the 25th does not include admittance to the Brother Brigham’s Family Ball
