This Is The Place for all your SUMMER FUN! It begins with the opening of Baby Animal Season. Our animals will put a smile on your face and holding a little chick or petting a tiny goat will give you a "warm-fuzzy!" You'll have to come to see just what that means! There will be plenty of animals to snuggle and nuzzle. Cowgirls and cowboys can saddle up on one of our ponies and enjoy a ride under the carrousel. All aboard one of our historical trains where you'll enjoy a tour of the entire Village with stops to explore all our favorite areas. Interact with the artisans in their shops and learn more about life in the early days of the settlement of the West. You'll see a saddle maker tooling leather and you can try your hand at making a craft at this location. The blacksmith is at his forge and the Village Weaver will demonstrate wool carding and spinning. There are make-and-take home crafts and fun pioneer games and other activities daily.
In the creek up yonder there's panning for gold, and the Treasure House has a treasure trove of activities! Dig in Prospector Pit or crack a giant geode. You will also learn about how mining shaped the Utah frontier and how it still does today. The Native American Village and dancers are a show-stopping crowd favorite so plan plenty of time to include them as part of your visit.
Come hungry as our Huntsman Grill, (home of the almost world famous waffle fries) has great grub! And save room for a little bit of sugary heaven at Brigham's Donut Shop where the donuts are made fresh daily! If that doesn't satisfy your sweet tooth head up to ZCMI Kid and Candy shop where you'll find old fashioned nostalgic treats. The Heritage Park Gift Shop at the Visitor Center is the best little shop west of the Mississippi and is open year round and doesn't require admission. While you are at the Visitor Center don't miss the Mormon Battalion Museum and the Stoddard Art Gallery. Our theatre presents a short film on the founding of Utah upon request.
*Sunday: Each Sunday for a reduced ticket price, you can enjoy a historic train tour on one of our three replica trains and wander through the Village at your leisure. There are selections of homes open for a self-guided tour. There are areas to picnic so bring your lunch. Our food venues are not open on Sunday but there are drinks and treats along with fabulous shopping in our Heritage Park Gift Shop.
