Pioneer Hand Cart Day Treks
are an unforgettable adventure!
Pulling and pushing a pioneer handcart up a mountain is difficult, hot work. It’s dusty and sweaty just a glimpse at what the early pioneers did for a thousand miles. But any young man or woman who’s done a Day Trek will tell you it’s one of the greatest experiences of their life!

Whether it’s a youth conference, a church or civic group, participation in our Day Treks teaches teamwork, cooperation and friendship. Is also fosters greater appreciation for the sacrifices of those ancestors who came before.
A trek begins early, with trekkers divided into “families” for each handcart. At the top of the mountain trekkers have lunch and a brief program, then the arduous downhill return to Heritage Village, where they are warmly welcomed. It’s a rewarding experience for both youth and adult advisors; one they’ll talk about for weeks after.
