Fillmore, Millard County, 1872
Built in 1995
The original Huntsman Hotel, built by Gabriel and Eunice Huntsman, provided comfort, relief, and refreshments to hundreds of weary travelers before its demise in 1938. It featured 24 rooms, full-length porches, a fine dining room, and an in-house barbershop. Our reconstruction is a scaled down version of the original hotel.
The hotel was finely decorated in a Victorian style with intricately carved posts and railings on each floor. Considered the ‘Finest Hotel in Utah’; many dignitaries, including Brigham Young, Wilford Woodruff, and Lorenzo Snow, stayed in this magnificent building. During peak periods, such as church conferences, the spacious attic was also used for additional sleeping space.
The Huntsman Saloon, built by Gabriel Riley Huntsman, was constructed in 1894 right next to the hotel and served as a tavern and a pool hall.
