RELIEF SOCIETY HALL

1860s
Built in 2001

Joseph Smith established a women’s organization for Latter-day Saint women, known as the Relief Society, in 1842. This organization still exists today. The purpose of the Relief Society was to care for the sick, deliver babies, and provide food, clothing, and other necessities for the needy. In many communities, local Relief Society auxillaries often had separate structures built next to ward meetinghouses. The design of this replica was based on the architecture of such halls throughout Utah.
