Ephraim, Sanpete County, 1868
Built in 1998
Niels was a Swedish immigrant and his wife hailed from Denmark. The Andersons had nine children, seven who survived to adulthood. Niels was renowned for his skills as a marksman, storyteller, ox trainer, puppeteer, and leather braider. He frequently put on puppet shows with the puppets he made for the children in the town. His skills as a lumberman also helped to make his home one of the better-built homes. The home began as a two-room dwelling with a sleeping loft, but was later expanded to a four-room house. It was modeled after Scandinavian architecture with the inside colored and furnished in cheery, spring-like color to offset the dreariness of the cold Scandinavian weather.
