Ence Cabin

  • Built in Richfield, Utah 1871
  • Relocated in 1972

This cabin, built by Swiss immigrant Gottlieb Ence, was one of the first authenticated structures to be moved to This Is The Place Heritage Park. It was used as a "camp house" by farmers in the region who traveled from town to town selling their produce. For 50 cents per night, a traveler got a meal and "...all the wood they could burn, hay for two horses and a place to stay." They slept on clean straw strewn on a board floor.
