Bowery
A bowery is a type of structure with a roof but no walls. Built as an open air meeting place, a bowery was constructed in the Old Fort in Salt Lake City, UT in 1847 and was made of wood, mud, and thatched brush. Another was constructed later near the site of the Salt Lake Temple. It was used as a venue for religious and civil events.Â
DID YOU KNOW?
Until the construction of the old Tabernacle in 1852, a bowery was the only regular place of public Christian worship in the Salt Lake Valley.
