Brigham Young Academy

The building was originally constructed by Jesse Lewis, a Provo, UT businessman, as a mercantile store. In 1870, the building was sold to the Dusenbery brothers for use as a school, which was later reorganized into Brigham Young Academy in 1875. The building, known as Lewis Hall for most of its existence, burned down in 1884 forcing the Academy to find a new campus.
