John Pack Home

Settler John Pack was one of the first pioneers into the Salt Lake Valley in 1847. He built an adobe brick home in Salt Lake City, UT, which functioned as a venue for social events and, famously, the first campus of the University of Deseret beginning in 1850.

Did you know? The home was later used as a store, a dance hall, a tavern, and a school. In 1850, it was used for the first classes taught at the University of Deseret, predecessor to the University of Utah.
