Margaret Hickman Cabin

  • Built in Fairfield, Utah late-1850's
  • Relocated in 1994

A one-time lawyer, US Marshall, and army scout, William "Wild Bill" Hickman had a notorious reputation. After being baptized into the LDS Church, he served as a bodyguard for Orson Hyde, a church apostle. Brigham Young's Indian foster daughter Margaret, was Hickman's seventh wife. He built this cabin for Margaret in Fairfield, Utah. She was a Utah Shoshone who assisted Hickman in negotiating several peace agreements with neighboring tribes. This particular cabin was rebuilt using logs from the original structure, supplemented with new materials.
